Massachusetts General Hospital Receives Million Grant for Holistic Healing Research

Massachusetts General Hospital, a part of Mass General Brigham, announced a landmark $10 million grant from the Boston-based Shah Family Foundation. This funding will be used to establish a new program aimed at researching and implementing holistic therapies to aid in healing patients.

The grant will help launch the Center for Comprehensive Healing, a facility dedicated to promoting “whole person health.” This innovative center will explore various wellness approaches, including breathwork, meditation, massage, tai chi, acupuncture, and energy healing. Its mission is to investigate the most effective practices and apply evidence-based methods to enhance patient and practitioner outcomes.

“We want to champion a thoughtful approach to holistic health,” stated Maurizio Fava, Mass General Brigham’s chair of psychiatry for academic medical centers. “The new center will provide the tools necessary to explore successful interventions and share those findings with clinicians worldwide.”
