The Health Foundation of Greater Massillon, a supporting foundation of the Stark Community Foundation, has recently awarded over $100,000 in grants to local organizations dedicated to enhancing health and wellness for residents in the area. Since its inception in 1999, the foundation has invested more than $3 million into local initiatives, particularly those benefiting economically disadvantaged communities.

The grants awarded in fall 2024 are aimed at a variety of impactful initiatives. For instance:

  • ArtsinStark received $10,000 to host Dr. Jeremy Nobel, emphasizing the role of creative expression in improving health.
  • Beacon Charitable Pharmacy received $50,000 to provide essential medications and outreach services for uninsured residents.
  • Girls on the Run East Central Ohio received $2,500 to offer programs fostering the well-being of pre-teen girls.
  • Malone University used $6,220 for training nursing students with an infant simulation manikin.
  • Pathway Caring for Children secured $5,000 to host a summer camp for youth in foster care.
  • Serving Area Military and Veterans received $5,200 to help homeless veterans transition to permanent housing with necessary supplies.
  • Stewart’s Caring Place was awarded $5,000 to assist cancer-affected residents with various supportive services.
