Walmart Invites Community to Wellness Day
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Walmart is encouraging residents to embrace healthier lifestyles with its upcoming Wellness Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event promises free health screenings for various conditions, including glucose and cholesterol levels, body mass index, and blood pressure evaluations.
Additionally, attendees can access affordable immunizations against influenza, COVID-19, HPV, and other diseases. Jennifer Harper, pharmacy manager at Store #2807 on John Wayland Highway, spoke about the significance of these screenings, stating, ‘The thing with blood pressure — if your blood pressure is routinely high, it increases your risk for heart attack and stroke, which can cause a whole lot of other health complications, and even death.’ Harper emphasized the importance of understanding one’s health baseline during these events and how screenings have led to numerous patients receiving crucial treatments.
Wellness Day also serves as a great opportunity for families to meet with pharmacists to discuss various health topics. Harper pointed out that consultations during this event will cover maintaining a healthy lifestyle, medication management, and the importance of vaccinations. Pharmacists are prepared to offer tailored advice for women who are pregnant or planning to conceive, including vital nutrition guidance and the role of folic acid in fetal development.
