Walmart Launches Wellness Day to Promote Community Health
Las Vegas (KSNV) — Walmart is inviting residents to kickstart a healthier lifestyle by participating in the first Wellness Day of the new year, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event aims to offer a variety of health services to individuals and families.
Free Health Screenings and Immunizations
This Wellness Day will feature free health screenings, which include glucose, cholesterol, body mass index, and blood pressure checks. Additionally, affordable immunizations for flu, COVID-19, HPV, mumps, and measles will be available at nearly 4,600 pharmacy locations nationwide.
Special Offerings in Nevada
Select stores in Nevada will also provide vision screenings, wellness product demonstrations, and in-store giveaways to enhance community engagement.
Support for Health Journeys
Kevin Host, senior vice president of pharmacy at Walmart, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, ‘A new year brings opportunities for a fresh start, and we want to support people on their health journeys. Our Wellness Day events allow customers and patients to check in on their health in an affordable and convenient way while also encouraging meaningful connections with our highly skilled pharmacy teams.’
Consultation With Health Professionals
Families attending the event will have the chance to consult with pharmacists about healthy living practices, medications, vaccination advice, and more. This includes special discussions focused on health journeys for pregnant women, enhancing their nutritional knowledge with recommendations like the importance of folic acid.
Increased Access to Health Services
Walmart pharmacies across 21 states will provide high-quality testing and same-day treatment for conditions like strep, flu, or COVID-19. The initiative also includes the availability of combined COVID-19 and Flu A/B home tests, assisting families in determining when further medical care may be necessary.

Since 2014, Walmart pharmacies have conducted Wellness Days nationwide, providing over 5 million free health screenings. With over 4,000 Walmart stores located in areas facing a shortage of medical providers, Walmart plays a vital role as the primary healthcare option for many rural and underserved communities.
