PETOSKEY — North Country Community Mental Health (NCCMH) is thrilled to announce the launch of its 30 Days of Kindness Campaign, starting on January 17 and running through February 17, 2025. This initiative aims to inspire acts of kindness while raising awareness about mental health resources available in the region.
The campaign will culminate in community events on National Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17), designed to foster connections and spread positivity among community members.
NCCMH extends its services to residents in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Kalkaska, and Otsego Counties who are experiencing severe emotional problems, serious mental illness, or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We know that kindness has a ripple effect,
said NCCMH CEO Brian Babbitt. Simple, everyday acts of kindness not only benefit others, but they also enhance our own well-being. Research shows that acts of kindness can boost self-esteem, reduce stress, and improve mood. At NCCMH, we’re committed to helping create a stronger, more connected community by fostering kindness and understanding.
Throughout the 30 Days of Kindness, participants will have opportunities to engage in various uplifting activities such as:
- Kindness Rocks: Participants will paint and distribute uplifting rocks around the community. Those who find the rocks are encouraged to take one if needed or share a photo on social media with the hashtag #KindnessRocksNCCMH.
- Kindness Bingo: Individuals can complete simple acts of kindness and stand a chance to win a prize. From holding doors for strangers to donating blood, the tasks aim to spread kindness while promoting community well-being.
- Self-Care and Kindness Tips: NCCMH will share valuable tips throughout the campaign to remind participants of the importance of being kind to themselves and others.
Kindness isn’t just about doing something nice for someone else—it’s also about being kind to yourself,
Babbitt further remarked. This campaign is a reminder that everyone deserves to feel valued, and through these simple acts, we can make our community a better place for all.
