YORK, Maine — What began as GLOW has transformed into a sanctuary for wellness specialists, RISE Wellness Collective, celebrating its 15th anniversary on York Street on January 16.

Led by Sage Clarke, affectionately known as the “mother hen,” RISE offers a diverse range of holistic practices, including yoga, reflexology, herbalism, and psychotherapy. Following a rebranding after the pandemic, this wellness center has become a one-stop destination for individuals seeking improvements in their physical, mental, and spiritual health.

“There are things that we need to address in our body and spirit that sometimes require more than what our doctor or therapist can provide,” Clarke expressed.

The celebration will feature an open house on January 16 from 5 to 9 p.m., during which guests can enjoy complimentary mini-sessions from various practitioners and refreshments.

From GLOW to RISE

RISE was born from GLOW, which Amy Hopkins founded in 2010. GLOW, an acronym for “Grow Life. Own Wellness,” focused on pregnancy-related wellness and self-care. It offered a variety of services, including massage therapy and yoga.

Clarke, who met Hopkins through yoga, joined the team and eventually became a leading figure in the organization. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic paused their operations just six months after Clarke’s integration.

After the pandemic, the GLOW team leveraged their strong community bond to reimagine their approach, leading to the establishment of RISE.

“Coming out of that experience, we faced the question of what comes next,” Clarke noted.

As a collective, each practitioner operates their independent business while contributing to a unified wellness environment.

A Community of Well-Being

RISE has flourished into a collaborative space where visitors can access a variety of wellness services, from yoga to Pilates and holistic health coaching. Clarke emphasized the importance of meeting clients wherever they are on their wellness journey.

Another practitioner, Sharon Trull, shared her experience in reflexology, highlighting its impact on overall well-being.

“Reflexology is more than just a foot massage; it can facilitate unexpected relaxation and healing,” Trull stated.

RISE Wellness Collective continues to enhance the community by providing opportunities for collaboration among wellness professionals, making it a valuable resource for the Seacoast region.
