Avalanche Warning Issued for the Cascades

OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Travelers planning to drive across Washington State are advised to reconsider their travel dates due to severe weather conditions.

The Northwest Avalanche Center has issued an avalanche warning for all of the Cascades, effective until 6 PM on Thursday. This precaution comes after reports of over a foot of fresh snow accumulating in the mountainous regions overnight. The warning extends to the Olympic Mountains and Mount Hood as well.

Authorities strongly discourage travel over Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes during this dangerous period.

In addition, a winter storm warning is in effect for the Cascades through Thursday night, indicating that further snow accumulation is expected.
