Understanding the Plank Exercise

During the segment, Green explained, ‘When we do a plank, we want to think about a bridge.’ She illustrated the correct form for a plank, including alternative kneeling variations for those who may find traditional planking challenging.

For individuals experiencing wrist discomfort, Green noted, ‘Planking on your elbows will give you the same effect,’ asserting that whether one is on their toes or knees, maintaining proper form is essential.

Key Techniques for Effective Planking

According to Green, the core focus should involve drawing the ‘belly button to the chest’, a technique she described as ‘a proper plank form’ vital for building good core strength.

In addition to core strengthening, planks offer benefits for the back, shoulders, and glutes. Green encouraged beginners to start with a duration of 10 seconds, gradually increasing the time in 5-second intervals as they progress.
