CVS Health has announced the appointment of Len Shankman as the new president of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness. This decision is part of a broader leadership organizational change aimed at enhancing the company’s service in the pharmaceutical sector.
Len Shankman, who has been with CVS since 2002, succeeds in this pivotal role where he will oversee the front store and retail pharmacy operations across the company’s extensive network of over 9,000 pharmacy locations.
Shankman has held various leadership positions within CVS, including serving as the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness. His extensive experience also includes roles in the company’s Specialty Pharmacy division and as the general manager for Coram, CVS’s Specialty infusion business. Prior to his career at CVS, Shankman served in the United States Navy.
In conjunction with Shankman’s appointment, CVS has also named Lucille Accetta as the chief pharmacy officer. Accetta’s role will focus on advocating for pharmacists in healthcare, while she continues to oversee the Specialty Pharmacy, Coram, and Omnicare businesses as senior vice president of Specialty Pharmacy Operations.
Accetta has been with CVS Health since 2017, consistently taking on roles with increasing responsibility within the Specialty Pharmacy domain. She previously held leadership positions at several pharmaceutical firms including Teva Pharmaceuticals and Express Scripts.
The company recently highlighted positive trends during its latest earnings call, including achieving a retail pharmacy prescription share of 27.3% and continued progress in transitioning to the CVS CostVantage model.
As CVS Health evolves, the leadership changes aim to drive further success within the Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness sectors, enhancing health care delivery to consumers across the United States.
