Rural Mobile Medical Unit Health and Wellness Initiative

The second annual Rural Mobile Medical Unit Health and Wellness Initiative is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, in Clymer. This free event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the ABBE Reformed Church, located at 595 Clymer Sherman Road.

Sponsored by ABBE Reformed Church and the Southwestern Independent Living Center, the initiative will provide a wide range of health services, educational resources, and complimentary giveaways for attendees.

The first 180 guests will receive care packages provided by Allegheny Health Network, which will contain essential items such as shampoo, body soap, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Additionally, National Fuel will distribute weatherization supplies to assist local residents in preparing for winter.

Services available at the event include:

  • Free retinal exams by Erie Retina Research
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccinations from The Chautauqua Center
  • Birth control education and walk-in breast exams, along with referrals for mammography
  • Complimentary transportation to Westfield Memorial Hospital for individuals seeking cervical exams, breast exams, and mammograms; morning and afternoon rides available through the Busti Church of God (to reserve a ride, contact Cancer Services at 585-808-2032)
  • Support from six veteran programs providing resources and guidance on various services for veterans and their families
  • PSA blood testing for men conducted by WNY Urology
  • Assistance for Medicare Part D enrollees with prescription plan questions from a representative of EPIC
  • Insurance representatives ready to discuss health plan options and assist with enrollment
  • Legal assistance for elderly and disabled individuals offered by the Center for Elder Law and Justice

Over 30 community service providers will be present to connect attendees with various programs and support services.
