Health and Wellness Summit Scheduled for November 12 in Monroe
MONROE — The Monroe Aging Consortium is hosting its seventh Health and Wellness Summit on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at LaRoy’s Hall, located at 12375 S. Telegraph Road in LaSalle. This event aims to address the needs of the aging population and promote healthy lifestyles.
Participants are encouraged to register by November 4 by contacting the Commission on Aging at 734-240-3290 or via email at MCCOA@monroemi.org.
This year’s guest speaker is Jeff Weiss, president and CEO of Age of Majority, a consultancy focused on changing the narrative around aging. Weiss brings over 35 years of marketing experience and emphasizes that over 100 million adults aged 55 and older in North America represent a significant consumer market. According to Weiss, they account for more than 40% of consumer spending but are often overlooked in marketing strategies.
“He knows what’s necessary to take advantage of this largest and fastest growing segment in business,” said Sandie Pierce, referencing Weiss’s extensive background with major brands like Pepsi and Gillette. Weiss’s presentation will debunk common myths about aging and explore the true nature of older adults today.
The summit will start at 10 a.m. featuring vendor displays, followed by a brunch from 11 to 11:45 a.m. A small donation of $5 is appreciated. Weiss’s presentation will follow brunch, with an interactive Q&A session afterward. Attendees can also participate in a basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing at 1:15 p.m.
Sponsors for the event include several local businesses and organizations, ensuring that the summit provides valuable resources for seniors and their families.
