DECATUR, Ill. — A walk-in clinic on Millikin University’s campus will close before the end of the year. The HSHS Medical Group Health Center located on Fairview Avenue is set to close on December 27. This decision comes following an evaluation of the care they deliver.
Vice President of Operations at HSHS Physician Enterprise, Mandi Vehlow, stated, ‘HSHS Medical Group has determined it is necessary to end its agreement with Millikin University to provide medical management services for the walk-in clinic located on Millikin University’s campus.’ She added, ‘It has been our honor to provide medical management services for the Millikin Clinic for the past two years, and HSHS remains committed to continuing to serve the Decatur community through our many other healthcare services and locations.’
In light of this closure, Millikin officials mention they are exploring other provider options but have not finalized any transition agreement. They emphasized that while the public health center is closing, support services for the Millikin community will remain available.
Millikin University President, Dr. Jim Reynolds, remarked, ‘We appreciate the important services that the Millikin Health Clinic provides to our students, faculty, staff, and the greater Decatur community. We are working diligently to avoid an interruption of services at the Clinic, and we will share an update when we have more information.’ He also reassured that Millikin’s Health & Wellness Services will continue operating to support students, staff, and faculty.
For urgent care needs, officials recommended alternative options in Macon County, including Decatur Memorial Urgent Care, Local MD Urgent Care, and Central Illinois Urgent Care.
