
Annual Concert for Mental Health Awareness
On October 12, El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells and his 14-piece band, in collaboration with the San Diego Rescue Mission, will host a free concert titled “Shine a Light on Mental Health” at the Magnolia Theater in El Cajon. This event aims to raise awareness about mental health issues and provide valuable information to the public.
Event Details
The evening will kick off with a health fair at 6:30 PM, featuring nearly 15 local mental health and wellness providers offering free screenings and information. The concert will follow at 8 PM. Free tickets are available here.
Musical Lineup
Mayor Wells’ band will perform a variety of genres, including Rock, Pop, R&B, and Blues, with songs from artists like Ray Charles, the B-52s, Santana, and Stevie Wonder. The band comprises friends from across the country, coming together for this meaningful cause.
Supporting Mental Health
The Grossmont Healthcare District, a key sponsor, has prioritized mental health as a critical need. Mayor Wells, with 35 years of experience in mental health treatment, emphasizes the importance of addressing mental health issues, especially as they relate to homelessness.
Special Highlights
Attendees will have the chance to win a beautiful guitar donated by Taylor Guitars. The event coincides with World Mental Health Day on October 10 and National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month, focusing on education and awareness.
