
The South Lake Chamber of Commerce hosted its monthly breakfast on August 16 at the Clermont City Center, featuring prominent educational leaders who shared insights about the upcoming school year.
Keynote speakers included Dr. Heather Bigard, President of Lake-Sumter State College; DeAnna Thomas, Executive Director of Lake Technical College; and Diane Kornegay, Superintendent of Lake County Schools. These influential women are shaping the future of education in the region.
Dr. Bigard discussed the college’s recent successes and the LakeWorks pathway, a collaboration with Lake Technical College aimed at providing seamless educational opportunities.
DeAnna Thomas highlighted her nearly 18 years of service and her dedication to helping students achieve their career goals, which has significantly contributed to the college’s growth.
Diane Kornegay shared her vision for the future of education in Lake County, emphasizing her commitment to enhancing educational programs to meet local students’ needs.

The breakfast was sponsored by Brian Broadway of Find, Feed & Restore, a non-profit organization providing housing solutions for families. Attendees were encouraged to learn more about their initiatives.

Nancy Srodes discussed Project Scholars, which awards $10,000 scholarships to four deserving South Lake County students, funded by the annual Pig on the Pond Community Festival scheduled for October 11-13.

Roshni Graydus emphasized the importance of long-term wellness and personalized healthcare, inviting attendees to explore their services.
The breakfast served as a valuable platform for community leaders to connect and discuss the future of education and wellness in Lake County.
