United Way of Greater Lorain County and Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital have launched the United We Sweat Cleveland Clinic Caregiver Series, a monthly initiative designed to provide free health and wellness education in downtown Lorain.

Classes are scheduled for the third Friday of each month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at United Way, located at 642 Broadway in Lorain.

This series will continue throughout the year, with each session featuring a new topic and expert speaker, as stated in a recent news release.

Upcoming Session: Food As Medicine

The session on August 16, titled “Food As Medicine,” will be led by Laura Horner, a cardiac nurse and nurse case manager at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. This presentation will delve into the advantages of a heart-healthy diet, particularly focusing on the Mediterranean diet.

Participants will gain practical insights into healthy eating, including tips like eating a variety of colorful foods, shopping around the perimeter of the grocery store, and maintaining a healthy diet on a budget.

Both in-person and virtual attendance options are available.
