What is the mission of MAPS?

Building Beyond Prohibition

Since its inception in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) has spearheaded the movement advocating for evidence-based approaches to psychedelics. When utilized safely, these substances can foster personal growth and address various mental health issues. Our mission is guided by three core pillars: advancing research, changing policies, and shaping culture to ensure Healing For All.

We envision a post-prohibition world…

In a future free from prohibition, individuals will have legal access to psychedelics for healing and personal development. Instead of stigmatizing users, society will recognize psychedelics as essential tools for achieving optimal health.

Addressing the Crisis

With half of the population facing mental health disorders, the current crisis affects families, communities, and economies. Despite their historical use and scientific backing, many psychedelics were criminalized over fifty years ago. MAPS aims to See Past the Paradox of the War on Drugs, advocating for policies grounded in scientific evidence.

Our Pillars

Open Science, Open Books

MAPS has dedicated nearly four decades to pioneering psychedelic clinical trials, aiming to create a legal pathway for psychedelic-assisted therapies.

Consciousness, not Criminalization

We strive for a drug policy ecosystem that prioritizes public health and individual liberty.

Be the Bridge

We provide education and support to ensure safe integration of psychedelics into society.

Leave your impact!
