Nashua Community College is launching a new Nutrition and Wellness Associate in Science degree program starting Fall 2024.

According to Allison Rheaume, Professor and Nutrition and Wellness Program Coordinator at NCC, “It’s a combination of health science and culinary arts.” The program aims to help students earn their associate degree and either transfer to a four-year institution for a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or enter the workforce directly as nutritionists. Career paths include healthcare, food service, food science, sports nutrition, and more.

Professor Rheaume highlights the program’s breadth and local demand, stating, “You get a foundation in so much, and there’s such a need; we’re looking at a 13 percent growth in New Hampshire over the next few years, there’s a need to have that nutrition base.”

A new Food Service Systems course will also be available, introducing students to sanitation and public health in the food service industry.

The Nutrition and Wellness degree will provide high school students taking Culinary Arts classes through Early College (formerly Running Start) with another option.

Graduates will be prepared for careers in various fields such as:
