Why Were Patients Transferred?

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCSC) – Colleton Medical Center is transferring all inpatients receiving care to other hospitals after losing air-conditioning. With temperatures reaching triple digits in the Lowcountry, this move was made out of concern for the well-being of the 32 inpatients at Colleton Medical Center.

Where Are the Patients Being Transferred?

These patients are being transferred to Trident Medical Center, Summerville Medical Center, and Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness.

What Services Are Affected?

Colleton Medical Center’s emergency room remains open, but all hospital outpatient services scheduled for Monday are being rescheduled.

When Will Normal Operations Resume?

New air conditioning units are on the way and the hospital will return to regular operations after they’ve been installed.
